Halophyte Zine
2017–2020Layout designer, print manager
The Halophyte Collective, a group of artists and writers in Salt Lake City, released four independent publications from 2017 to 2020 under the name “Halophyte Zine.” I designed the layout of all four issues and managed the process of having them printed by a local printer. The zines were then hand-bound by members of the collective and are available for purchase through their website and pop-up shops.

To create cohesion across the set, all Halophyte zines were designed to be the same size and to be printed on the same light grey paper. Each issue had its own theme — empty space, walking/mapping, translation, and collaboration — and the layout was designed to reflect each theme. For example: the “Translation” issue has colored corners that transition (or “translate”) from blue to yellow in a steady gradient throughout the issue, and the table of contents identifies each piece by shade of blue, green, and yellow in place of standard page numbering.
